Can you imagine that Cambodia still has more than 900 temples under the ground ? Today I met the professor in Canada who experiences working in Cambodia as a Archeologist, said that she has found 900 temples under the ground located between Stung Treing Province of Cambodia. I was so surprise when I heard she said that; but unfortunately other foreign countries take what they was found to their own countries without sending back to Cambodia. Read article bellow:
Currently, the findings of Archeological digs are largely done by foreign universities. Khmer Archeologists mostly work in very dangerous or areas with landmines and Agent Orange (a chemical sprayed on Cambodia by Americans during the Vietnam War). Still, there over 900 temples under the ground in Cambodia, but the de-mining industry has made it too expensive to de-mine and treat the areas contaminate with Agent Orange. At this time, materials that are found by Archeologists are sent out of the country to be analyzed. Materials also included human remains. Can you imagine being Khmer, dying on Khmer soil and then your bones dug up and sent out of the country – never to return? This is terrible. This is why people should support the work of Southeast Asian Archaeologies - (Southeast Asian Archanaelolgies) their object if to make the Royal University of Fine Arts capable of processing the materials found in digs, and become a world class university.
